Art Morrison Enterprises has expanded its line of GT Sport chassis to include both “Standard” and “High Performance” models for the venerable 1947-53 Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks. Both feature rugged 2×6 main frame rails, body and running board mounts, with the differences being in the front and rear suspensions and amount of frame “kick-up.” They are essentially “bolt in” projects, with minimal fabrication required.
The more economical “Standard” configuration provides a quantum leap in ride and handling over the factory chassis. It features an independent front suspension with tubular control arms, coil-over shocks, and an adjustable anti-sway bar. A 4-bar rear suspension with poly-bushed rod ends, reinforced 9″ rear end and Panhard bar, as well as adjustable coil-over shocks, provides excellent traction control and lateral stability.
For those who wish to drive more aggressively, AME offers a “High Performance” GT Sport chassis. The ride height is lower than the Standard design, and it features a “Sport” front suspension with beefy 1-5/16″ diameter upper control arms and upsized poly-bushed rod ends. The 4-bar rear suspension features “Johnny Joint” lubricated rod ends for more precise control.
Both models come with 2″ dropped Wilwood spindles, power rack & pinion steering, and can be set up to accommodate virtually any engine and transmission combination. Options include air spring and leaf spring (rear only) suspensions, as well as pedal packages for brake/clutch or brake-only installations.
