To facilitate the installation of OEM high-torque or compact aftermarket gear-reduction starter motors on a variety of engines, ARP has developed a series of starter bolt kits engineered for the tasks at hand. They are manufactured from a proprietary stainless steel alloy that is nominally rated at 180,000 psi tensile strength and fully 20% stronger than Grade 8 hardware. What’s more, they are virtually impervious to the elements.
ARP’s engineering team has carefully researched each application and designed the bolt kits to ensure that the starter motor is properly seated and secured to provide the proper gear engagement and eliminate rattles and other issues attributable to improper fitment.
Available in 5/16”-18, 3/8”-16 and M8 sizes, the threads are rolled and the shank knurled (where applicable) after heat-treat, which provides up to 10-times the fatigue life of ordinary fasteners. Bolt heads are smaller diameter than OEM, which makes for easier installations, and offered in hex or 12-point configurations for most applications. Polished stainless steel washers that precisely accommodate the bolt’s shank taper are included.
