Project T-Rex has advanced to the mid-point in construction with the completion of the chassis and suspension. A detailed story on this segment of the build can be accessed at https://www.turnology.com/tech-stories/brakes-suspension/project-t-rex-update-new-chassis-and-suspension/. Additional stories will be posted on this and other relevant websites as the build progresses. T-Rex is a 1974 TVR 2500M that is getting the full resto-mod treatment, a 5.0L Ford Coyote powerplant, and is being built for Optima Ultimate Street Car competition, as well as SCCA Solo and Goodguys autocross events. The chassis features a multi-link IRS from Art Morrison Enterprises, as well as an AME Sport IFS front end, Detroit Speed power rack & pinion, and double-adjustable VariShocks at the four corners. The roll cage, which is made from 1-5/8″ x .120″ wall tubing, features a series of joints that will allow it to be disassembled, powder coated, and reassembled inside the body. T-Rex’s exhaust has also been fabricated and features a tri-Y design feeding into 3″ exhaust pipes, an X-pipe, and then to a pair of Borla Split-Fire “Boomer” stainless steel mufflers. The seats are Kirkey aluminum low-back models designed for vintage racing applications.
