The latest additions to Manley Performance’s lineup of Platinum Series premium grade pistons are for Nissan GT-R applications. Available for use with either stock 88.4mm stroke or larger 94.4mm stroker cranks, the pistons come in three “bore grades,” enabling engine builders to precisely match the Nissan factory cylinder designations that are stamped on the block. This is an industry “first.”
Forged from high strength 2618 alloy aluminum, Manley’s Platinum Series pistons are superior to factory castings and capable of handling extreme boosts. The stock stroke pistons are of a flat top design with a -1.5cc dome volume and the stroker versions incorporate a –6cc dish, both of which correspond to a 9.25:1 static compression ratio with OEM cylinder heads. They will accommodate +1mm valve sizes. Pistons are individually ordered by Bore Grade 1, 2 or 3.
Other features of Manley’s new pistons for the VR38DETT engine include offset wrist pins for quieter cold start, a pressure balance groove, and moly coated skirts. Included with each piston is a 2.500” x .180 wall premium chrome moly wrist pin, round wire locks, and a ring set with a 1.2mm steel top, 1.2mm Napier profile 2nd ring, and 3mm 9-13 lb. tension oil rings. A 9310 alloy wrist pin upgrade is available.
